ServeNext Pledge

The ServeNext Pledge is a tool for the national service community to gauge candidates’ support for the expansion of AmeriCorps, the Peace Corps, Senior Corps, and Learn & Serve programs.

During the 2008 Presidential Primary season, volunteers with the ServeNext New Hampshire Action Network secured the signatures of more than half of the candidates from both major parties on the ServeNext Presidential Pledge, which outlined the expansion of AmeriCorps from 75,000 to 175,000 members.

The success of that campaign prompted leaders in the national service field to suggest an increase in the number of AmeriCorps members in the ServeNext Congressional Pledge, matching proposals for 250,000 AmeriCorps members by both Democratic nominee Barack Obama and Republican nominee John McCain.
